SentinelEgxos - Sea Water Quality Application

Welcome to the comprehensive environmental monitoring system for Greece. This platform provides real-time visualization of critical infrastructure including wastewater treatment facilities and telecommunications antenna locations. This is part of the GeoOpen EnfTech Platform created by the Cassinians 4 for the 10th Cassini Hackathon in Greece.

Disclaimer: All data aggregated from their respective public sources and agencies. Automated collection methodology was performed at low traffic hours, respecting the Terms of Use and the relative robots.txt. Accuracy of the initial raw data is the responsibility of the Competent Authority of the subject.

These are the background links that will fire up an update of the DATASETS used in the current application page. Data is being scraped from the website of the Ministry of Environment: http://astikalimata.ypeka.gr/wtp

This specific page is problematic when opening the details of each treatment plant. The map does not have any basemap layers, making it impossible to understand the location of the plant outlet because human perception needs a basemap for reference.

The link to use to scrape the data again is here: https://mpelas-wastewater-scrape-203451079784.europe-west1.run.app
On a successful run, you get the HTML reply: Analysis complete. New GeoJSON saved. KML GCS sync: uploaded.
On a successful run where nothing needs to be updated, you get the HTML reply: No data changes. KML GCS sync: uploaded.
The link to scrape the keraies.eett.gr website is: Apify Keraies Scraper (small charge of $5 per day).

The link to verify that the API is working fine is to inspect the Psitallia plant outlet: https://mpelas-wastewater-203451079784.europe-west1.run.app/?latitude=37.936966667&longitude=23.586672222 for Ψυτάλλεια.

This tool aids in the positioning of the flotilla sensor/buoy in the area under investigation. The link between a buoy and a nearby transmitter antenna (licensed antennas are included in the online map) enables real-time monitoring of water quality parameters.

The communication link of the buoy/real-time sensor in sea water areas shows the 1st Fresnel zone and its obstructions from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of the terrain. This helps ensure optimal signal transmission between the floating sensors and the nearest communication tower.

Note: DEM data and SE2WAQ filters are derived from COPERNICUS and SENTINEL DATASETS provided by the European Union (2025).

Aitoloakarnania Water Treatment Plant Sea Area - Buoy / Sensor Propagation Analysis Test

1st Fresnel Zone is significantly obscured. Please consider changing location in order to have better signal to noise ratio (SNR) You may consider changing the Radio Network Tower to find another one with better Line-of-Sight to the specific sensor,
